The Headwaters Conference
Every fall, Western Colorado University hosts a gathering of scholars, writers, poets, journalists, public officials, community activists, social and natural scientists and the general inquiring minds from the mountain region for a weekend of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural interaction on an issue of concern in the Headwaters Region. Papers are presented, but every effort is also made to make the discourse accessible through "Forum Theater" dramatizations, poetry, music and a full gamut of the varieties of human communication.
Wildlife 101 Series
In response to some local discord around public perceptions of what agencies were doing to manage game species, the Master in Environmental Management program and Center for Public Lands partnered with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Bureau of Land Management for a “Wildlife 101” series, designed to educate the public about wildlife management.
Winter Travel Management Series
